Terms of Service

Service orders, accounts, use and management. Version: 2026-10-10. Prohibited-use list updated: 2026-10-10.

1. Acceptance and formation

Before ordering, read these terms, acceptable-use rules, refund conditions and the selected plan. The version accepted in the order process forms part of that order. Do not submit an order if you disagree.

2. Services and applicable documents

In these terms, Hoststare or we means the party providing and managing this site’s services under the Hoststare brand. These terms cover hoststare.com, the client area, and hosting and related services ordered from us. Product pages, orders, invoices, product-specific rules and separately confirmed written arrangements define the purchased service.

Servers, web hosting, email, domains and SSL services differ in configuration, delivery and third-party requirements. Only available items confirmed in the order form part of the purchased service; unspecified extras, management or backups are not included. Product-specific rules apply to the relevant product, rather than applying VPS administration requirements to every service.

3. Account and contact details

Keep account details accurate and your contact email accessible. Protect your credentials and authorised users, and report suspected account compromise through a ticket. Service notices, invoices and requests are sent through the account email or client area.

4. Specifications, availability and delivery

Use the specifications and selectable options displayed and confirmed when ordering. A plan name is not its complete specification. Planned or unavailable products do not promise immediate delivery. Order confirmation and service readiness are different states; use the address and access details in the service activation notice.

5. Charges, payments and renewal

Check the currency, billing cycle, setup fees and option charges before paying. Use the payment methods actually offered on the invoice and arrange renewal before its due date. A renewal invoice does not prove that payment or renewal has completed. Automatic charging requires an expressly authorised and enabled payment arrangement.

6. Payment verification

A payment may require manual verification of authority and fraud risk. Respond within 24 hours of a verification request with the specified necessary information, excluding full card numbers, payment-account passwords and authentication codes. Delivery may be held or service suspended while verification remains unresolved; the notice explains the outcome and data risk.

7. Guest systems and data

You must have authority to use or process the content, domains and data you submit and manage authorised users responsibly. Maintenance responsibilities follow the purchased service and management scope. Customers administer the operating system and applications of a self-managed VPS or server, while web-hosting and email customers administer their own content, accounts and settings.

Keep software updated, restrict access and maintain independent backups outside the service. Reinstallation, cancellation, termination or corruption can make content unrecoverable. Backup coverage, frequency and restoration scope follow the express terms of the purchased plan.

8. Infrastructure, acceptable use and prohibited activities

Services use third-party infrastructure. Follow applicable law, the Hoststare Acceptable Use Policy and infrastructure restrictions affecting your service. Network abuse, unlawful content or security incidents can cause upstream access restrictions and affect availability. Hoststare communicates necessary customer action through tickets or announcements.

All prohibited uses listed here are Hoststare service restrictions that apply worldwide, regardless of the customer’s location or the server’s location. They apply even where local law permits the activity.

  • No copyright infringement or illegal trade, including drugs, forged documents and stolen data.
  • No phishing, deceptive advertising, scam mail or unauthorised personal-data collection, storage or distribution.
  • No viruses, trojans, ransomware, backdoors or other harmful programs.
  • No unauthorised access, tampering, interference, port scanning, brute-force attacks or DDoS.
  • No unsolicited bulk or commercial email.
  • No extremism, terrorism, racial hatred, anti-humanity content, extreme violence, child sexual abuse, false political propaganda or misinformation.
  • No excessive resource use through malicious scraping, mining or scripts; no bypassing security or service limits, unlawful conduct or harm to others.
  • No obscene material, adult-product trading or sexual-service information.
  • No illegal betting, online casinos or related trading platforms.
  • No narcotics, drug precursors or hazardous chemicals.
  • No firearms, ammunition, military or police equipment, eavesdropping devices or hacking software.
  • No forged documents, counterfeit currency, illegal negotiable instruments, private-data trading, phishing, scams or fake-base-station information.
  • No unlawful political, subversive or national-security-threatening information, or activity violating Hong Kong or Mainland China law.
  • No unauthorised intrusion, scanning, attacks, tampering, malware, backdoors, spam, resource abuse or disruption of cybersecurity or public order.

9. Violation charges and review

A confirmed prohibited-access or use incident carries a handling charge of RMB 200 per incident. An invoice in another currency must state the converted amount and basis. The charge does not replace remediation or other actual liability arising under law.

The notice identifies the affected service, evidence and action. Customers can dispute the finding through a ticket. Stating a charge in this policy does not mean an unchecked automatic debit will occur.

10. Maintenance and support

Maintenance and network or equipment faults can affect service. We provide notices and handling information appropriate to the incident. A specific uptime level, repair deadline, round-the-clock response or application administration requires an express product statement or written agreement. See the support page for scope.

11. Restrictions, suspension and review

Use violations, account security issues, unpaid charges or valid authority requests can require service restrictions or suspension. Urgent security action may precede notification. Submit remediation or review information through a ticket. Restoration depends on resolution of the issue and infrastructure availability.

12. Cancellation and refunds

Export and back up your data before requesting cancellation through the client area. Cancellation does not itself grant a refund or immediately stop every authorised payment arrangement; check the processing result. Refund eligibility follows the terms expressly offered for your plan and applicable law. See Refunds and Cancellation.

13. Excluded losses and non-excludable rights

Online services carry risks. Issues arising from customer actions, unmaintained software, absent backups, third-party faults, force majeure, outages or legal and infrastructure-policy changes are assessed according to their actual cause and applicable law. To the extent permitted by law, Hoststare excludes lost expected profits and indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from those events. Non-excludable liability remains unaffected.

14. Service compensation ceiling

Where an interruption is attributable to Hoststare and creates liability, aggregate compensation for that incident is capped at one month of the affected service fee to the extent legally permitted. A separate written SLA and rights that cannot lawfully be limited take precedence. Submit the service reference, times, impact and verifiable evidence. An unverified outage assertion or upstream outcome alone does not establish compensation.

15. Customer indemnity

If unlawful, infringing, unauthorised or breaching customer conduct causes a third-party claim or actual loss to Hoststare, the customer is responsible for attributable reasonable loss, handling costs and legal costs under applicable law. Hoststare provides a supporting basis. This does not transfer Hoststare’s own responsibility or unrelated expenses to the customer.

16. Responsibility and disputes

Provide verifiable service records and details of actual loss when raising a dispute. Responsibility and any limits are subject to applicable law and do not remove rights that cannot lawfully be excluded. An upstream refund or credit to Hoststare does not automatically create the same customer entitlement. Separate written agreements remain applicable.

17. Versions and contact

Contact us through a ticket or [email protected] for service disputes and questions about these terms. Material changes are announced on the website, in account notices or by email, with their timing and scope. Changes do not retrospectively amend an existing order.
