Point a domain to your VPS

Manage DNS at the provider that hosts your domain’s authoritative nameservers. A VPS does not automatically include a domain registration or DNS service. Add an A record for the desired hostname using the IPv4 address actually assigned to your VPS. Add an AAAA record only when your service has a working assigned IPv6 address.

For a www hostname, use an appropriate A record or a CNAME to your chosen hostname according to your DNS provider’s interface. Check that an existing record does not point visitors to an old server. DNS caches may retain old values according to their TTL; there is no single guaranteed propagation time.

DNS resolution alone does not configure the website. Set the hostname in your web server, open the application’s required ports, and install a valid TLS certificate before using HTTPS. If you use a proxy service, check both its settings and the VPS origin configuration.
